The Problem With Dressing For Summer

Let me just start off by saying, summer is my jam. I am ALL about the hot (well as hot as the UK can get) weather, long days, BBQs, happy vibes and of course, summer fashion.

I love dressing for summer so much more than any other season. I love all the floaty dresses, sandals, shorts, playsuits, colourful clothing and pretty much everything about summer fashion. Just heading out of the house and not having to worry about wearing a jacket is the best.

But the point of this post and my problem with summer dressing can be put shortly in two words; air con.

I work in an office that endures the never-ending battle of the cold people and the hot people. As you can probably guess I’m on the cold people side of the fence. And it honestly makes me so miserable. The freezing cold air blasting on me the majority of the day really does nothing for encouraging me to work. But somehow we seem to lose that battle everyday with the air con.

However the biggest problem of all with the air con is the effect it has on my wardrobe. As I work full-time 5 days a week, it renders about 80% of my summer clothing useless. The level it has got to is that even when wearing jeans and a long sleeve top, I sit wearing one of those snuggie sleeved blankets most of the day at work. And I’m not even ashamed to admit that. I am that girl. Girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do to conserve that body heat.

It means that all my lovely summer dresses, playsuits, sleeveless tops, skirts, shorts etc etc, end up relegated to the back of my wardrobe in favour of jeans even when its 30 degrees outside. With only 2 days a week free to wear what I want, a lot of my summer clothes become redundant or only worn once.

So in essence this post is just to have a little moan, and to give a shout out to all my lovely summer clothing. I see you, I love you, and I’ll make it my mission to try and wear you as much as the UK summer lets me.
