On my YouTube channel I have done monthly favourites videos here and there but I have decided on an ‘every three months’ format now as I never really had enough new fashion and beauty things to talk about at the end of each month…
And I do love talking about fashion and beauty, but there are a lot of other favourite things that do change more regularly like music, articles, things I spot in the shops, TV shows etc etc. The list could go on forever but you get the gist.
To cater for all these other random favourites that are kinda hard to show in a video, and change every month, I thought I would introduce a new monthly post to my blog – The Monthly Edit. At the start of each new month I’m gonna be giving you a brief run down of the latest things tickling my pickle so to speak. It’s gonna be a whole bunch of recommendations and a little insight into what I’ve been up to over the past month which hopefully will be interesting to you! So without further ado; here is November’s Edit. (I think I’m going to name it for the month coming up rather than the one just gone as I will be posting it the first Friday of each month, hopefully that makes sense!)
I spotted these boots on the Zara website but they were out of stock in my size, I clicked notify me so I knew when they came back in stock but they went out of stock again before I remembered to order them. I now massively have non-buyer’s regret. I’ve got all my fingers and toes crossed they come back in again because they look like the boots of my Autumn Winter dreams.
After wanting a Longchamp Le Pliage bag for ages I decided to treat myself to the backpack version for our holiday as I thought it would be the perfect bag for sightseeing and not giving myself ultimate shoulder ache carting round my crap all day in a shoulder bag. Turns out it was a great decision and I love love love this backpack.
My wardrobe has been in need of an oversized denim jacket for far too long and with 20% off ASOS the other day I had to take the plunge with this washed black one I had my eye on. I’ve sized up for a more oversized fit and I think it’s going to be a new wardrobe staple.
Blazing on my Spotify this month has been these absolute tunes.
Articles & Blog Posts
I am legit in love with Hannah Gale’s blog right now. I adore her writing style, her mixture of posts from fashion to travel to lifestyle and how relatable everything is. But in particular this month her post about things we love coming home to after a holiday really had me chuckling because it’s all oh so true. An absolute must to check out if you haven’t already!
I haven’t read too many online articles outside of blogs this month so instead I’ll admit where I really spend most of my time; Buzzfeed. I definitely have an addiction. I check it everyday and spend about half an hour going through the most random things, it’s my little guilty pleasure! That and the Daily Mail (SO guilty!). But one particular Buzzfeed piece that I loved last month was this little gem “24 Statements That Get More True The Harder You Think About Them”. That shiz will blow yo’ mind!
TV & Movies
If you haven’t already seen the Amanda Knox documentary on Netflix then go and do it immediately and get back to me with what you think. I can’t make my mind up about Amanda. I don’t think she did kill Meredith but there is something strangely cold and detached about her. And if you’ve read reviews on this, it still won’t prepare you for how much of a terrible human being Nick Pisa the Daily Mail journalist is. He seriously needs to engage his brain before he opens his gob.
Spotlight. In a word; incredible. In a few more; gripping, upsetting, awe-inspiring and powerful. It is such a great film, so deserving of its Best Picture win at last year’s Oscars. If you don’t know much about it, the plot line follows the true story of the Spotlight team at the Boston Globe newspaper who uncovered the sexual abuse of children and subsequent cover up by the Catholic church. It is so powerful and thought-provoking, and Mark Ruffalo is amazing in it. An absolute 100% must-see!
Gogglebox is back and it’s such good Friday night viewing. Our favourites are June and Leon (elderly couple goals), the dad in the Malone family and the two new elderly ladies that I don’t know the name of. Hilarious start to finish. And it helps me see what’s been on TV that I need to catch up on!
Odds and Sods
If you don’t watch my YouTube videos then you won’t have heard me harp on about the PanDolly podcast. It’s the best. The perfect pop culture and fashion weekly round up hosted by Pandora Sykes and Dolly Alderton. I just want to be their friend and discuss things in their intellectual way with them. Is that lame? But who cares, the podcast is great and you need to get a’listening!
Maple Candies are a new thing to my life after my trip to New England and they are the dream. Literally a bite of pure sugar but it’s an indulgence I would definitely partake in again. Can you get them in the UK? I think I’ll have to do a bit of research!
What have you been loving over the past few weeks? All recommendations greatly appreciated!
