And there we have it, all my outfit posts of 2014, and I ended the year on a delightful jumper in my opinion! Which is your favourite outfit? Looking back at this has made my so excited to keep up the momentum with my blog because I enjoy doing it so much, so hopefully I can keep doing 5 posts a week as well as working full time! Fingers crossed! And I hope you have a Happy New Year and I will see you in 2015!

YEAR IN OUTFITS: JANUARY - JUNE

yearinoutfits1 yearinoutfits2 yearinoutfits3 yearinoutfits4 yearinoutfits5 yearinoutfits6 yearinoutfits7

There's pretty much been a blog silence for the past week hasn't there. As I'm working over most of Christmas I decided that the blog would have to take a backseat last week. I was working up until 4pm on Christmas Eve and then I'm back at work today, so I decided that the little amount of time I did have with my friends and family over Christmas would be dedicated to them. But I am back with a couple more posts this week before 2014 is out! Today is part one of my Year In Outfits, everything I posted on this little blog from January to June. If I'm honest, its not that much in comparison to what tomorrow's post has to bring. I massively upped my outfit post game in the second half of 2014, but in the first half of the year my posting was very sporadic. So while my posts may have been few and far between it is interesting for me to see what I was wearing at the beginning of the year.
I'll be be back tomorrow with a bumper edition of my Year in Outfits because from July-December I really did try a lot harder!

SNOWFLAKE CHRISTMAS COOKIES

IMG_7645 IMG_7714

At the weekend I made a whole bunch of pretty amazing Christmas snowflake cookies (if I do say so myself), so I thought it was only fair that I share them with you so you can make them too! The recipe is take from a book called Christmas Cookies that I picked up last year at a garden centre. So here is the recipe for your baking pleasure! You can use any cookie cutters, but I think these cute snowflake ones from Lakeland are particularly adorable.

Cookie Ingredients -
350g plain flour, plus extra for dusting
1tsp baking powder
1/4tsp salt
115g butter, softened, plus extra for greasing
175g caster sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 tsp vanilla extract
1tbsp milk

To decorate -
Icing sugar
Sugar flair Ice Blue colouring (or any other blue food colouring)

1 - Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt together in a bowl. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and the caster sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, 2 tsp vanilla extract and milk until smooth and then mix in the flour mixture to form a soft dough. Cover the dough with clingfilm and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

2 - Grease a couple of baking sheets. Preheat the oven to 180c/350F/Gas Mark 4. Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to 5mm thick. Use your cookie cutters to cut out all your cookie shapes from the dough. Transfer the cookies to the prepared baking sheets. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

3 - Once the cookies have completely cooled, mix the icing sugar with a bit of warm water until it is at a dripping consistency. I haven't specified an exact amount of icing sugar to use because this will depend on how much icing you want to use on your cookies. Just use a bit of guesstimation to decide how much you will need, you can always make more if needs be. Once the consistency is correct then add a bit of the blue food colouring until it is the desired shade. Then using a spoon, drip the icing back and forth across the cookies until you have a lightly covered striped effect. You can then either leave the cookies with just one colour icing, or make up some more and add a bit of white icing in a second layer like I did in the top picture on some of the cookies. Its totally up to you!

Around 35 of the tasty little treats haven't even lasted 4 days in my house, so I'm definitely going to be whipping up some more this weekend! Let me know if you decide to make them too!

GREY KNEE HIGHS & A CHECKED DRESS

faux fur - STALL AT CLOTHES SHOW LIVE
dress - BLUE RINSE VINTAGE
jumper (under dress) - MANGO
boots - MATALAN

Thigh high boots are a tricky one, you can be so close to tacky and have to tread a thin line with them. Hopefully I'm on the right side of the line! I originally ordered myself a treat in the form of the Office Nova 2 boots, thinking that they would be a fine length, and that the Office Nova boots which were the slightly shorter version, would be not as long as I wanted. However when the boots turned up, without being too over-sharing, I don't have the legs of a Victoria's Secret model, so those boot's top end was only a couple of centimetres away from my private area. Absolutely terrible, so those swiftly were returned. Those were flat boots, so I'm still on the hunt for a similar pair to that, but to satisfy my thigh high boots craving for now I settled on these babies from Matalan. At only £35 I'm amazed by how nice they are in real life. I absolutely love them.
I am again showing off a couple more of my new bits from the Clothes Show in the form of this dress and the faux fur scarf. In all honesty, the faux fur is one of my mum's purchases but she kindly lets me borrow things. I think this is the third week in a row that something I've borrow from her has featured on the blog. Maybe I should do a mum's style post! Haha.
