Elie Saab and Valentino...

Both of these couture shows absolutely wowed me, I loved them, so I thought i'd have a separate post just about them.

Elie Saab

Valentino

Both of them just had such beautiful garments, gorgeous colours and lovely embellishment. The attention to detail in these show garments was amazing, and i'm a sucker for a beautiful evening gown. Just wow.

more couture...

After looking at the first day of couture week, I decided to look at what else was shown in the following days. I meant to blog about this the other day but totally forgot so I thought i'd do it  now :)
I quite liked a lot of the looks from Jean Paul Gaultier, it was quite fun and quirky but I do think it was slightly in bad taste. The Amy Winehouse theme was way too soon after her death and quite disrespectful to her family in my opinion. It was probably done in all good faith as a tribute but for sensitivity reasons I do think they should have waited a few years for a show like that because it some ways it glamourises her life and lifestyle. Givenchy didn't have too many looks, I liked a couple of them but the freaky thing done to the models' mouths (not too sure what it was) really put me off. It creeped me out. I liked the silhouettes shown at Armani Prive and there were some beautiful fabrics used, but too much green for me, i'm not a big fan of green. I loved the aeroplane setting of Chanel but I didn't really think much of what was shown, nothing wowed me. I didn't like the low pockets on all of the garments, and the clothes seemed too simple.

my week in photos #2...

monday: started my new timetable at uni, its so crap! why can't they bunch the sessions together more so we get a day off instead of being in for a hour a day for 2 days of the week! and cooking some sausages for a sausage sandwich dinner, standard student life.

tuesday: went to the slug and lettuce in Portsmouth with my course girlies, had a lush carbonara and a good little shopping trip around Gunwharf. My new jeans from New Look turned up, I supposedly ordered the same jeans in 2 different sizes to see which fitted better. As you can see, definitely NOT the same jeans, even though the labels say they are. Oh well, im keeping them both :)

wednesday: got a new sketchbook to start one of my new projects, this definitely means the start of truckloads of work and stress. decided to stay in and watch the big brother eviction instead of going out, i'm such a rubbish student, in the winter I just cannot be bothered to get dressed up and go out at night.

thursday: bought elle collections from whsmith, £7! when I first started buying it a few years ago it was about £4.50! spent the evening attempting to read some of my work for uni, while catching up on a bit of masterchef, secretly love that programme.

friday: came home for the weekend, this little face makes it so worthwhile, he's just so damn cute! mum got me a lush dominos for dinner, with chicken strippers and the gourmet garlic bread. not so sure i'm a big fan of the garlic bread, tasted a bit weird if you ask me.

saturday: went shopping with my mum to tunbridge wells, saw this shop window and just thought what the hell! haha so freaky. went to my nans for dinner and was looking through old family photos, found this gem of me, rocking the mixed prints even at an early age haha.

sunday: ordered tickets to london fashion weekend with my mum, so looking forward to it. went for the first time in september and absolutely loved it. had a lovely roast dinner made by my mum, really miss those at uni, gotta love a yorkshire pudding or 4!

frustration...

I have recently been spending all my time browsing various blogs that I like and I decided I want to make mine look more customised and unique to me. Something that looks aesthetically pleasing and personal. However after spending hours and hours looking up how to make my own template with html codes or css or whatever it is, I have just ended up ridiculously frustrated and ready to punch my computer. Looks like its gonna take me a long time to be happy with what my blog looks like :(

saturday purchases...

Went shopping to Portsmouth with my mum on saturday and she treated me a bit. She got me some new Topshop red jeans, a little Cath Kidston purse, Rimmel matte nail varnish that I wanted to try out and she lent me the money for a new pink Topshop zip hoody. The boyf treated me to the JLS calendar because it was £1 in hmv, bargain! That now brings my number of 2012 calendars to 3 :). I bought myself a necklace in the Topshop sale, £3.50 down from £14, another cheeky bargain, 2 plain dresses from h&m and these amazing trainers from Adidas. I saw them ages ago in schuh but they were £68 which I couldn't really justify for trainers but they came into the Adidas outlet where the boyf works and he held a pair back for me. They ended up being £23.10! Absolutely love them, so glad I didn't buy them at £68! :)

couture week...

I have just been looking on vogue.com and style.com at the start of this seasons couture fashion shows that began today in Paris. The 3 big shows today were Dior, Versace and Giambattista Valli. In my opinion, the Dior show was no-where near as fantastical and amazing as I expected it to be, its far too wearable for couture and nothing like as amazing as what has been seen from them before. But what can you expect now Galliano has gone. There were only 15 looks for the Versace show, I feel a bit mixed about these, some were beautiful, but some were quite trashy I think. However, as its their first couture show since 2004, maybe it will improve for the next couture season. In my opinion the best show of the day was the Giambattista Valli show. Most of the pieces were beautiful and feminine (I thought some were a bit questionable but...). Definitely a good show :). Looking forward to seeing tomorrows shows.

my 2012...

This year there are so many things I want to do.

  • The first plan is to get into blogging, after looking at various amazing style blogs of girls from the UK I decided that I really want to get into it too.
  • I also want to work hard at uni and try to get my assignments done when I get them (in theory).
  • I want to take better care of my skin, moisturising, trying new skincare products, eating better and generally aiming for flawless skin (even though that will probably be impossible).
  • Experiment with make-up more. Im always scared to try new make-up styles on myself and hardly ever wear lipstick in case it doesn't look good. I want to start trying new looks.
  • Apply for some good work experience and see if I can get anything to help me get a job in the future.
  • Get more clothes and start to develop my own unique style.

I'm not really sure what I plan to blog about but mostly about my life, what I get up to, my uni work, my clothes, anything that inspires me really :)
